About the company

The Römertopf was presented in April 1967 by the ceramics company Eduard Bay GmbH as an absolute innovation at the Hanover Fair, at that time the leading consumer goods fair in Germany. In 1997, the RÖMERTOPF® brand was taken over by the managing partner Otto Gatzke and converted into RÖMERTOPF® Keramik GmbH & Co. KG. Since January 2017, Frank Gen tejohann has been the sole managing director of the company, which today employs 40 people at its headquarters in Ransbach-Baumbach, still its only production site. Since the 1970s, more than 50 million Römertopf roasters have been sold – so, mathematically speaking, there could be a Römertopf in every one of the 40 million German households. The best-selling models are the roasters in the classic Römertopf design. Today, the range consists of five areas, each identified by a colour scheme in a new packaging system. This makes it very easy for customers to find their way around the diverse Römertopf range and to find the right product for every use in the kitchen.
