The Beltane brand has existed since 2007 — but its origins go back to 1994. Elmar and Simone Schleker started out with a classic organic and natural food shop. Via their own delicatessen department and a catering service that was known above all for its unusual Indian dishes, the "Biofix" idea was born: specially created masalas developed in line with the Indian teachings on spices – organic, of course. Indian spice lore recommends: cooking with a wide range of finely balanced spices, mixing imaginative masalas and taking into account the physiological effects of herbs and spices on the human body. None of the spice blends and marinades available in shops contain any food additives, hydrogenated fats, flavour enhancers, artificial flavourings or modified starches – and that is what sets them apart from conventional ready-made seasoning mixes. Beltane also deliberately avoids yeast extracts, gluten and animal ingredients in production. This makes all products ideal for vegan cooking as well. What remains are exquisite herbs and natural ingredients that give the dishes their authentic regional flavour. Preparation is absolutely foolproof, child's play and offers plenty of variety and healthy diversity.
