## Profil

For more than 90 years, we at PICARD & WIELPÜTZ have remained true to the Solingen tradition, still manufacturing cutlery and selling it worldwide. The company was founded in 1927 by the economist Dr Hans Wielpütz and the engineer Erich Picard. After the death of Dr Hans Wielpütz and the departure of the Picard family from the company, Dr Hans Wielpütz's daughter Eva Schultes and her husband Hans Schultes took over the management of Picard & Wielpütz as managing partners and shaped the company through their tireless commitment. In the late 1960s, Mr Hans Schultes also took over an automotive supplier, thereby bearing responsibility for two companies. We are all grateful to him for taking on this great task and for his courage. The company is now family-owned in the third generation and is managed by the managing partner Peter Schultes.

Headquarters in Solingen: thanks to the acquisition of the neighbouring plot, production and the logistics centre were moved to a new building in 2008. The site now covers 5200 square metres, with a built-up area of 3600 square metres.

In-house production gives us a high degree of flexibility and ensures constant, reliable availability for delivery. Working to strict quality standards, we at PICARD & WIELPÜTZ use both traditional manufacturing methods, such as grinding benches that have existed in a similar form for many decades, and modern production equipment, such as robots, which allow us to achieve higher production volumes with consistent quality. At PICARD & WIELPÜTZ, craftsmanship and machine production therefore work hand in hand, balanced in such a way that we can offer our customers the best possible quality. In 2009, we introduced a quality management system in order to improve continuously. Since then, we have been certified by TÜV to the quality management system standard DIN EN ISO 9001 in the areas of development, production, procurement, logistics and sales.

More than 40 different cutlery patterns and special items are produced under the brand name Briefanker. The name Briefanker dates back to the time when Solingen was the stronghold of cutlery and blade production. It comes from the German expression of giving someone "Brief und Siegel" (letter and seal) on something. In earlier times, the "Brief" was a certificate confirming quality. The anchor served as a seal, which at the time was regarded as a signature. The Briefanker was thus considered a confirmation of the quality of the products – and still is today! The anchor is also a recognisable symbol of Solingen, as it appears in the city's coat of arms. Every cutlery pattern we make comes with an extensive range of pieces and a long-term repurchase guarantee. They are made in 18/10 chrome-nickel steel or 18/0 chrome steel and can also be silver-plated or gold-plated. We are also open to our customers' special requests and are happy to apply logos or lettering. There are various options for this, such as time-honoured stamping, etching or modern laser engraving.

New developments at PICARD & WIELPÜTZ are created partly with external designers and partly devised and realised by our engravers. All employees and business partners are regularly asked for further ideas and improvements in order to achieve the best possible result. Alongside its absolute focus on production in Solingen, PICARD & WIELPÜTZ has long-standing, good relationships with manufacturers abroad. We cooperate with them in areas where production in Germany is not economical but certain items are needed to round off the range. There, the products are manufactured to our quality specifications.

We also develop and produce our own cutlery patterns for other well-known brands on the cutlery market.
